Castle Stalker is more than 550 years old, though an earlier fortification has been on the site nearly 700 years. It is in a stunning position on a small rocky island in the Firth of Lorn, with a backdrop of myriad islands, mountains and the outcrops of a rugged coastline.
This quiet and peaceful coast was once at the centre of the fueds of some of Scotland’s wealthiest and most violent warlords and Castle Stalker itself has a fascinating and bloody history of murder, intrigue and revenge.
The Castle is privately owned and is open for only five weeks a year to the public for parties booked in advance. All the details are on their website.
If it is views you are after, you can’t do better than the car park at the Castle Stalker View Cafe and they serve a really lovely lunch.
